Wood Surface Treatments

There are several options available that will give your wood product distinct character. We use the term "treatment" to describe the process of creating a style through various surface texturing techniques. Although we do carry a wide selection of stains and wood finishes, all of our manufactured wood products are sold unfinished and ready for stain or sealer.

Smooth Sanded

Wire Brushed

Sandblasted

Large belt sanders are used to sand the wood to a uniform, even surface.

As the name implies, a wire brush is scrubbed along the grain to accentuate it and give the wood a distinct rustic texture.

Sand Blasting is the process of spraying the door with fine sand under air pressure. The sand chips away at the softer portions of the wood, leaving a weathered look similar to prolonged exposure to the elements, but without the detrimental effects.

Distressed Surfaces:

Distressing - also known as antiquing - is used to age contemporary pieces to simulate the dings, dents, and wear that would naturally occur over time. We accomplish this look with distressing tools. Three levels of distressing are available, light, medium and heavy. The level of distressing that is appropriate depends on the style of structure and how rustic a look is desired.

The photos below show the same door in three stages of distressing: light, medium, and heavy.

Light Distress

Medium Distress

Heavy Distress
